An allusion to Jonathan Monk, an artist who, in one of his series (Keep Still), used Letraset to write the titles of well-known conceptual art works above the heads of people in family photographs.
Not a monk – because soldiers aren’t monks, and also in reference to the famous, absurd joke (you’re not a monk), which mocks the human condition and the impossibility of obtaining knowledge.
