Whereas Bertillon invented forensic anthropometry, the French artist Yves Klein (1928–62) invented “anthropometries” – more particularly, “anthropometries of the blue period” – a series of artworks produced by creating imprints on paper of nude models covered in blue paint, who became living paintbrushes.Digitometries are, in a way, ready-made anthropometries: records of single fingerprints left by users on their touch screens, iPads, e-readers, or smartphones.
